About

Friends of Fort Point Channel (Friends) is a nonprofit organization committed to making the Fort Point Channel an exciting and welcoming destination for all of Boston’s residents, workforce and visitors.  The Friends was established in 2004 as the result of the Boston Redevelopment Authority, in partnership with Channel landowners, nonprofit and cultural leaders, and residents.  This group also created the award winning 2002 Fort Point Channel Watersheet Activation Plan, a dynamic vision of recreation, cultural activity and diverse year-round programming, which the Friends is responsible for overseeing and executing.

The Friend’s year round programming is free to the public, which is a new model for ensuring civic redevelopment. These programs include Fort Point Fitness, Taste of Fort Point Channel, Channel Boat Tours, and Pumpkin Pageant.  The Friends also produce the Fort Point Channel Resident and Visitors Guide, a map and list of events in the area that encourages visitors, residents and the workforce to explore Fort Point.  This year the Friends will produce 15,000 guides, free for the public.
