MAYOR MENINO SETS THE NORTHERN AVENUE BRIDGE AND THE FORT POINT CHANNEL AGLOW!
On Wednesday, December 6, 2006 over 130
colleagues, friends, and family members joined Mayor Thomas M. Menino
and the Friends of Fort Point Channel as the Mayor flipped the switch
at the Second Annual Northern Avenue Bridge Illumination.
This year, in addition to the traditional evergreen trees that
have illuminated the bridge in the past, the bridge itself was outlined
in holiday lights, as was the brand new HarborWalk Tree at the
InterContinental Hotel. The Mayor thanked Joe Fallon for his
generosity in lighting the Bridge, and the Friends of Fort Point
Channel for sponsoring the entire event again this year.
Pictured at the right with Mayor Menino is Shawn P. Ford, Treasurer of the
Friends of Fort Point Channel and Deborah Allen Carey, the Friends
Executive Director. Thanks also to The Daily Catch for FREE
holiday refreshments, cookies, and steaming cups of hot chocolate!
This winter holiday event is
sponsored by the Friends of Fort Point Channel, a non-profit
organization committed to making the Fort Point Channel an exciting and
welcoming destination for all of Boston’s residents, workforce
and visitors. The Friends, incorporated in 2004, is led by a
Board of Directors consisting of neighborhood residents, advocates,
public agencies and private landowners, and its efforts are funded by
voluntary contributions. We strive to create, support and promote a
wide variety of programs, activities and events that invite visitors,
residents and employees to enjoy the unique qualities of the Channel;
provide access to the water and its edge; and create enjoyable
experiences along the Channel. For more information visit:
